Cancelling Accounts: What to Know

Have you noticed how sometimes it seems that the more freedom you have, the more complicated and confusing things can get? It’s a classic case of ‘be careful what you wish for’ more often than not.

For those who have been with us for a long time, you all remember when cancelling accounts required a form to be sent to us either in email or by fax. Simpler times, but definitely not always that convenient, especially if that request was urgent and happened over the weekend or during a holiday.

Stages has definitely given you, the dealer, more autonomy over your accounts, but there are still some questions that come in pretty frequently.

One of the biggest ones lately?

“Can I cancel my own accounts?”

The answer: ABSOLUTELY! All you need to do is take it out of service and mark it as a cancelled account.


If you choose to cancel your accounts in this way and it’s a digital account, be aware that we also cancel the alarmnet registration, too. So if you plan on re-using the GSM you’ll want to email or fax us the cancel request along with those stipulations.

To prevent you from fully cancelling everything we’ve put a notification warning pop-up to alert you to exactly what you’ll be cancelling if you do it on your own. We know many of you love having this freedom and we’re glad, but for those who need to re-use? We understand, and we tried to find a way to leave a door open for you, too!
